The Art of China Painting

The paints that we use are mineral based in a powered form. We then mix these paints with a facilitator usually oil based. The oils we use are of a very high quality.  The paint is then applied with a brush to a piece that has been glazed.

When this piece is put into a kiln and fired at high temperatures, the glaze softens, the oil is burned away and the minerals remain. The glaze is then cooled and the glaze seals the color in. This process gives a permanent design on a glazed surface that cannot be washed off.

 About the Artist/Teacher                        Jada Guinn

I love the art of painting on glazed surfaces of all kind.

I began china painting in 1977 while living in Scotland.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to study with many different teachers, learning many different styles and techniques.  I gradually branched out to my own business as a custom china painter and a teacher of china painting.

I continue to take advantage of Porcelain art Schools and seminars. There always seems to be something new and exciting.

I have lived overseas and traveled extensively throughout most the world. This has had a strong influence on my favorite things to paint.

I enjoy working with my clients and seeing their ideas come alive on a permanent surface.

The thing that is most important to me is that each and every client is happy with my work.

I believe my art form is a luxury not a necessity.  My clients’ satisfaction and the delivering their purchase, on time, are of utmost importance to me.

As a Teacher I encourage my students to develop their own creativity and style, while teaching the mechanics of china painting.
